Living in the Midwest of the United States we don’t always have those beautiful vistas like along coasts or in the mountains. But we do have incredible wedding professionals in our area, including florists, rental companies, photographers, caterers, DJ’s, musicians, videographers, wedding and event coordinators and designers.
With so much talent in our area, brides have an ample supply of industry professionals from which to pick. Many brides will automatically go to someone a friend has recommended. My suggestion is to visit as many of the different professionals as you can. While your friend may have “clique’d” with that photographer or wedding florist, you may not.
Your wedding is a highly personal event in your life, so take the time to find the professionals that fit your style. Planning a wedding is an incredibly intimate experience; you’re excited, and you want your wedding to reflect you and your fiancés ideas.
Going back to the lack of coastal or mountain views, our area does have beautiful outdoor and indoor venues, such as barns, lakesides, family homes, country clubs, parks, etc. The list is endless. Of course, for your ceremony, you have your church, synagogue, cathedral or temple.
Which brings me to another point. Peoria has become quite the international city due to our wonderful hospitals and several multinational companies that have offices here. Peoria’s best wedding professionals, therefore, are educated in many different cultures to serve these different communities.
My interest in entertaining and wedding planning came from the great privilege of living in Europe for 5 years. Due to wonderful local friends, I learned about entertaining and how different cultures celebrate different events in their life. When we moved back to Peoria, I brought that love of entertaining and the love of different cultures with me.
