Scott Wheeler has been a fixture of Peoria radio for nearly 40 years beginning at legendary Top 40 station KZ93 in the early 1980’s. He also served as Operations Director and air personality for Big Oldies 93.3 that he helped make one of the top Oldies stations in the country. In 2006, he joined Christian Contemporary WCIC where he served as Operations Director, Morning Show Co-Host, and Afternoon Show Co-Host before leaving the station in August of 2015. After a brief “retirement,” he returned to radio doing a morning show from his home in Germantown Hills for “KOOL Oldies” in Southern New England. In July of 2016, he returned to the local airwaves as host of the afternoon show on SuperHits WIRL (1290 AM/102.7 FM). Contributor to Peoria Life since April 2019
He’s a veteran Peoria newsman and sports play-by-play guy. But did you know WMBD Radios News Director Ed Hammond is also a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and WWF aficionado? Get to know more about Ed on today’s edition of Scott Wheeler’s Airplay.
He helps you get where you need to go with morning traffic reports across Peoria’s top radio stations as Director and Reporter for Traffic One. In addition, over the last 7 years, he has become an author of 3 books including 2012’s “The Wreck of the Columbia.” My guest today on Airplay is Ken Zurski.
He’s been in local radio and TV for 40 years and started his weather career just over 30 years ago. 25 News Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins is also a James Bond freak and the keeper of Peoria television’s best TV bloopers.
Rick Stephenson is my “partner in crime” working the morning show on SuperHits WIRL. He’s a veteran of the radio industry working in Oakland, Minneapolis, Albuquerque, Shreveport, Phoenix, and now Peoria.
Today on “Scott Wheeler’s Airplay," we talk with Jamie Markley...a guy who went from “rockin’ with the best” on Rock 106 back in the day to now “talkin’ with the best” on the nationally syndicated “Markley & Van Camp Show.
He’s got an unmistakable voice and style that makes him one of Peoria’s most beloved radio personalities. And when you meet him, he’s just as genuine and likeable as he sounds on the air.
CJ from the Afternoon Show on Mix 106.9. Today we talk with CJ, a busy working mom, a pet adoption advocate, and helps make many of the radio stations you listen to sound so good (hint: it’s not just the one you hear her on). We go behind the microphone to get to know Peoria radio’s CJ
Most of us know Bob Larson as the longtime news anchor on WMBD TV 31. But did you know Bob actually started at 1470 WMBD before moving to television as a weatherman and then to anchor? We talk to Bob about this almost unheard of path to the news desk...and about what he’s doing these days in retirement.
Today we talk with Jill & Jeremy Tracey from “Mornings with the Traceys” on 91.5 WCIC. Find out what it takes for these two to be able to work AND live together without killing each other. It’s a special relationship on a special radio station. Don’t miss it!
