Irreplaceable Value
I'm writing to share with you an amalgam story that happened to me recently. It's about time and cache, and how they can make or break your success. It costs time to do business as an open networker. It also costs to create the necessary time to be CEDDY on the Spot when a contact is ready to be engaged. You will also grow and lose social capital (cache) when your business is centered on helping people. Time and cache are the most important elements in a successful consultancy. Wasting either is equal to playing video games or getting high for the sake of being high. However fun the activities may be, they are meaningless.
The amalgam:
You see, I had these clients who came to me asking for help to level up their careers. They wanted to work to grow in their respective careers and understood that their workloads would increase. They have the skills and the passion but need connections.
So, I did what I do best: I used my time and cache to create opportunities. I contacted some people I knew and some that I didn’t and arranged calls and meetings. Ceds Box targets decision-makers who have problems that can be solved with our straightforward, common-sense approach. I even brought some gifts to make a good impression.
The calls and meetings went well. The decision-makers were interested in what my clients had to offer and asked buying questions. Wanting to know when he could start, how long it would take, what else he needed, etc. Seemed like done deals.
I was excited for my clients. I thought we had just landed dream opportunities. Imagine struggling to get folks on the phone to share the good news. Imagine spending money on food and drinks to sit and be told why they were quitting.
Yuh! They rejected the offers. The supposed reasons were: He said he didn't want to do that kind of work. He said he wanted to keep doing what he had been doing, and just get more money for it. He said he didn't deal with white people like that. Lame, for sure; the statements were the most mundane and irresponsible utterances imaginable to a person in my position. And blatantly dishonest.
I was shocked. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. All I could see was wasted time and cache, and their own chances to level up evaporated there and then. They’d asked me for help but weren't ready for the change.
“Why would talented individuals reject positive movement in their careers and earning capabilities?” an earnest business owner asked me during a consultation yesterday. “Why do people do that? Why do they disappear in critical moments?”
I think there are three main reasons:
They're not ready for the responsibilities involved in their own come up. They may want it bad enough to dream about it, but if they're not prepared for it, they will crash the whole thing anyway.
They must jettison people, places and things when they level up. They may be comfortable with their current lifestyle, their friends, their habits, etc. They may be afraid of losing them or changing them.
It takes work to level up. It takes study, practice, discipline, commitment, etc. They may be lazy, distracted, or have excuses for not putting in the effort.
What can we learn from this story?
We can learn that time and cache are precious resources that we should use wisely. We should use them to create opportunities for ourselves and others who are ready and willing to level up. We should not waste them on people who are not serious or committed. Quality Time with Quality People (QTQP I learned in an MLM business).
We can also learn that leveling up is not easy or automatic. It requires us to be clear about what we want, why we want it, and how we can get it. It requires us to be open to change, growth, and challenge. It requires us to work hard and be smart.
If you're still reading this, it means you're someone who wants to level up. You're someone who has the potential and the desire to achieve more in your life and career.
And I'm here to help you.
I have the time and cache to create opportunities for you. I have the knowledge and experience to guide you. I have the network and connections to support you.
But you have to be ready.
You have to be willing to do what it takes.
You have to deal with white people like that.
Are you?
If you are, email and let me know. [email protected]
If you're not, then don't waste my time or yours.
The choice is yours. I hope you make the right one.
