Heading OM specializes in small group classes in restorative/therapeutic yoga, foundations of classic hatha yoga & breathwork with gentle to athletic pace, Feldenkrais movement practices, & Kundalini Yoga/Meditation.
You will find our teachers are leaders in the community, as well as students. We offer support to local community groups, & not-for-profit organizations, and participate in mindful, conscious community building. During the summer months it’s common to be offered local produce & flowers from our teacher’s & student’s abundant organic gardens. During Winter months, you will be offered OMbrew Chai & other delicious local goodies to warm your body & nurture your spirit.
Teachers at OM are mentored & supported in growing their own practices. Three of our teachers are full time movement educators & bodyworkers. OM teachers are encouraged to go on retreat for self-care & specialized trainings which deeply supports one’s own growth as well as the ability to share their experiences, knowledge & embodied wisdom. More & more, local teachers are stepping up to lead short series or once a month classes while others step away to reboot.
Guest teachers are becoming regular monthly offering at OM. We are deepening connections to other professionals excelling in teacheing yoga, therapeutic massage, meditations, Reiki, Feldenkrais, Herbalism, essential oils & Thai Bodywork. We host live music kirtan, meditation, dance & yoga. In 2015 Heading OM Yoga will host a foundational 200 hour teacher training program lead by Senior teacher Ellen McNamara of Madison, WI, & assisted by Tamo, which will support teachers being well trained in postures, philosophy, breathwork, community building & practices in mindful living.
About Tammy Mitchell, aka Tamo:
Her work as a Thai Bodyworker has deep roots in Buddhist practices & Indian Ayurveda. The practice is based on brahma-vihara, or the four sublime attitudes: 1ove, compassion, joy & equanimity. The 90-120 minute individual sessions includes a series of assisted postures, compressions & stretches. The outcome is deep relaxation, lightness, & freedom in mind/body/spirit. Aside from individual sessions, She leads group Thai workshops with lessons in touch technique, & will offer small group training in 2015.
She also lead retreats, workshops, and teach group & individual yoga for children & adults with a therapeutic focus in cultivating deep body sensing, empowering strength/flexibility, balance, heart-mind awareness & mindful relaxation/meditation.
As director, creative visionary & activator at Heading OM, She provides a safe, inspiring supportive space for students/teachers to explore, & empower strength in our Selves & our community. Yoga is beyond posture... it’s a way of life that allows all to experience a deep connection to your balance with nature.
Her own path is supported by wonderful teachers & mentors. They assisted her in finding the light in the dark shadows in life... practice & dedication bringing insight. This is what she practices & shares. Her daily life revolves around good food, compassionate human connection with family/teachers/students, sharing mindful experiences & living empowered. Tamo leads by living my practice on & off the mat. She has so much 1ove & gratitude to share it is well worth the time to visit Heading OM Yoga.
Tammy Mitchell, aka Tamo and Jennie Shien invite you to visit Heading OM anytime.
